The party started at 7 pm this time, and it was definitely the way to go!   After an hour of great tunes from The North Beach Irregulars,  the show started with Gary Cannon's warm-up routine, after which he let us in on a secret: most of the people who come to TV tapings are making a full time "job" of it.  Live and learn.   Next,  Ethan Watters used his special visual aids to demonstrate to Kurt (and  the audience) some of the new rules governing the mating habits of urban tribes.   Finally. we were treated to two special short performances: an amazing life lesson, courtesy of Dr. Seuss, from Cameron Galloway plus a sneak preview of Kurt Bodden's new show, Class Notes.  And throughout, we heard great jazz and great talk about jazz (by Kurt and bandleader Ned Boynton).  Nice.

GARY CANNON

Standup comic Gary Cannon got his start in San Francisco.  With his high energy and ability to kick-start a show, he has opened for some of the biggest names in the business, including Chris Rock, Jim Gaffigan, Bob Saget, and Brian Regan.  Now based in Los Angeles, he applies his skills with a crowd in another area he loves: warming up audiences at studio tapings.  Currently he's the warmup comic for "Last Call with Carson Daly."  Gary is also the host of a new internet game show called Show Us The Funny, where regular people who think they are funny get a chance to prove it.

ETHAN WATTERS

Author, teacher and writing coach Ethan Watters made history when he co-founded the San Francisco Writers' Grotto with buddies Po Bronson and Ethan Canin a decade ago. Since then, he's published three books, written for dozens of national magazines (including The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Esquire, Men's Journal, Spin, Discover, Details, and Mother Jones, among others), and created radio pieces for Public Radio International's .  Ethan's most recent book, Urban Tribes - Are Friends the New Family? is currently in development for a feature film by Warner Bros.

CAMERON GALLOWAY

Actress and comedienne Cameron Galloway has performed her original one-woman plays at (among other venues) DIVAFest, the SF Fringe Festival, and the Exit Theater.  You can frequently catch her unique monologues and performance pieces during Mark Romyn's "Thursday Night Combo" at the Exit Theatre.
